National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) held a contest for high school art students to design a yard sign to promote the discharge of Racial Covenants,  which were legally binding clauses embedded into property deeds designed to prevent non-White individuals from buying, leasing, or occupying land that was widely used across the United States from the 1910s to the 1960s. The sign was to be used for people to publicly show they have recorded new language disavowing previously discriminatory stipulations on their property’s deed.
My design was chosen as first prize.
